Dear Families,
Another
busy week in first grade! Our research
projects are coming along. When we come
back, the groups will be making story boards and picking their pictures for
their iMovies. For individual projects,
they are also writing their own fiction and non-fiction stories for the animal
they are studying. After break, we will
also begin our community unit. We
continued to explore money this week.
The children are doing well counting coins. When we get back from break, we will continue
to work on problem solving and finish up our unit on place value. In reading, we continue to work on silent
e. In writing, we began to talk about
how to write about an opinion and support it.
Trying to get 6 and 7 year olds to support an opinion with more than “because
I like it!” should be a challenge. You
can help by encouraging them to fully explain their reasoning at home.
In
the post below this is a link to the Sign-up Genius to volunteer for the
walking field trip, robotics classes, and Flandreau field trip. If you have any questions about them, please
let me know. I hope everyone has a fantastic
spring break. I look forward to enjoying
your children for the remainder of the year.
Have a great Spring Break!
Mrs. Berk
