Dear Families,
We
are in the final stretch before the holidays are upon us. We have lots of projects to finish up over
the next couple of weeks. Plus, there
are a handful of assessments to take. On
top of that the children would like to invite you to come and celebrate being
an author on December 20th from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The children will share their books with you
and there will be a small project to work on together. There will also be chocolate milk and
prepackaged muffins as well for the children.
This
week we finished unit 4 in math. The
last part of the unit was collecting data, making a table, and looking at what
the data means. In science, we did an
experiment with pennies, an eye dropper and water. We will do one more experiment before break,
but it will probably be the week before.
We talked a bit about traditions in Social Studies, but we will work
more with that next week and the week after.
In writing, we started our unit on informational writing. We discussed how to break down a topic and
some ways to begin an informational paper.
As we continue to read books written by Robert Munsch, we will look at
how the books would be different depending on who tells the story.
Last
week’s homework was to send in pictures.
We will work with those pictures on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have not sent in drawn pictures or
photographs, please send them on Monday.
This week’s homework asks you to send in a recipe. Please send these in by Friday. I need time to put the book together. If you would like to type it with your child
and email the recipe to me, you may do that as well.
As
we think about the holidays, please remember that the items for the families
and the non-perishable items for the food drive are due next week. The food drive is due December 13th
and the items for the family are due December 16th.
Have
a great weekend!
Mrs.
Berk
