Dear Families,
I
hope everyone had a wonderful week. It
has been a busy one in the Cheetah classroom.
This week we worked on the beginning and ending of stories, -ap, and -at
words and continue to learn about making deep connections. When working with word families we talk about
the 3 or 4 letter words (like cat, flat, trap, map) that are in that family as
well as larger words like captain or rattle.
It is great to see the children working on identifying the sounds they
know. In math we are working with 2-dimensional shapes and making new shapes from them. Yesterday we made a hexagon in 8 different
ways! In science, we finished up our
health unit and we are just starting on our plant unit. Next week we will investigate seeds.
I
want to make sure everyone is aware that the family event at school tonight has
been canceled. The next big all school event
is Garden day and Family Fix It Day on 10/1.
I will email everyone this weekend to remind you about your conference
time. If life has changed, please let me
know, so that we can reschedule.
We
are going to pick our corn next week from the garden and then start gardening
the week after the clean-up day. I am
sending home a book order today. The
books orders are due by the 7th of October. The book fair will occur in November, not
September as originally scheduled.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Berk
