Dear Families, I am not really sure where the last 3 days went, much less the first 2/3s of the school year. As I continue to work on grades and get report cards ready, it amazes me how little there is left in the school year and how much more I want to experience with your children. Report cards are due out on March 3 rd . On March 17 th , there is a half day for conferences. During this conference day, I will not meet with every family. If you are interested in meeting with me, please email me to let me know. It was another busy week in the classroom. As the week started, I was a little afraid that our science experiment was a failure, but by the end of the week crystals were growing. Dear Families, It was very funny to see the children’s faces Thursday morning as the announcements commented that it was 27 degrees out and if there was precipitation, it would be snowing. They all gave me this quizzical look that said it was not snowing outside, so what are they talking about. You have to love the literal minds of six and seven year olds! As usual, we were very busy this week. We celebrated the 100 th day with some estimation and probability. We finished up our unit on measurement where we started on time and fractions. We will continue to talk about those two subjects as we head back into addition and subtraction. We started our Objects in Space unit this week with an overview of the phases of the moon. Dear Families, We had a busy week this past week. We finished many of our beginning of the year assessments. The students worked independently on tasks while I worked individually with children. There was some talking but overall the class did well at this task. Many of the papers in your child’s folder today will be from those tasks. They were review or following direction type tasks. I did look over all the papers they did, but I only commented on a few of them. In your child’s folder are also all of the morning math problems that we did. I will comment on those papers every time. We are still working on what my expectations are when working on the morning math problems. Eventually these problems will be solved in morning journals.
